Karen L Maloney's Obituary
Karen Louise (McCleary) Maloney, a beacon of unwavering love, faith, and generosity, has been called home to the Lord on November 3, 2024, after a valiant three-year battle with ovarian cancer. Born on November 21, 1955, in Perryopolis, Pennsylvania, Karen's life was a testament to the power of selflessness, faith in God, and love of her family and friends.
Karen was fully devoted to her beloved husband, Stephen Maloney, who stood steadfast by her side through every high and low. Together, they raised a beautiful family, sons Cory and Brad, and welcomed with open arms their daughter-in-law, Suzanne. She adored her grandchildren, Luke, Josh, Matt, Maria, Zach, Nate, Gianna, and Cecilia creating countless memories with each one of them.
Karen’s love spread to her close-knit extended family and her dear sister, Julie Jowers, niece Jamie Jowers, and her brothers, Barry and Kevin McCleary. She leaves behind many treasured nieces and nephews, as well as great-nieces and great-nephews, each one holding a special place in her heart and she in theirs. Karen now joins her parents, Barry and Geraldine (Evans) McCleary, her parents-in-law, Walt and Isabel Maloney, and her grandson, Gabriel, in God’s eternal kingdom where suffering, death, and goodbyes are no more.
Karen's hands were never idle, for she found joy in serving others through her work at Kroger, Kuhns Market, Dietz's Restaurant, Gallery of Treats, and many more. Her service was not merely a job but a calling, a way to extend her kindness and generosity to all she encountered.
Karen lived her life in service to her family and friends, always putting others before herself. She crafted poems for each grandchild’s birthday, knitted quilts that warmed the body and soul, enjoyed card games, crafts, yard sales, and guitar, prayed constantly, and cared for her grandkids and nieces with a joy that was infectious. Karen's love for nature was evident in her trips to the Lake, where serenity met with laughter, and in the simple pleasure of painting rocks, taking walks, riding bikes, feeding hummingbirds, and cherishing her beloved dogs, Sheba and Dakota.
To describe Karen is to speak of a woman who was selfless, faith-filled, and generous. Her spirit was a guiding light, her faith a rock upon which she built her life, and her generosity knew no end. Her life was a sermon of love, a prayer of compassion, and a song of hope. She walked in faith, lived in grace, and left an indelible mark on the hearts of all who knew her.
