Judith Ann Kreger's Obituary
Judith Ann Kreger, a beloved member of the Pittsburgh community, passed away peacefully on November 22, 2023. Born on February 20, 1940, in Pittsburgh, Judith was a cherished daughter of the late Harold and Alice Schmalz, and a devoted wife to the late Cyrus Kreger.
Judith is survived by her loving son, Timothy Kreger, her sister, Sandra Ward, and her close-knit cousins, Robert (Susanne) Schmalz, Leslie (Bruce) George, and Kevin (Ann) Schmalz. She also leaves behind a large extended family of second and third cousins and very dear friends, all of whom will miss her dearly.
A proud graduate of Baldwin High School and the Pittsburgh Art Institute, Judith was a lifelong learner with a passion for education. She channeled this passion into her work as a preschool teacher at Baldwin Community United Methodist Church, where she also volunteered her time and talents.
Judith was a woman of many interests, with a particular love for music. She was a dedicated member of the Baldwin Community United Methodist Church choir for an impressive 60 years, and also lent her voice to the South Hills Chorale. Her love for music extended beyond singing, as she was a loyal supporter of the River City Brass Band and had a fondness for the unique sound of the bagpipes.
In addition to her love for music, Judith was an avid dog lover, and her pets brought her immense joy throughout her life, especially her most recent companion Pepper. She also enjoyed spending her vacations boating at Chautauqua Lake, where she found peace and relaxation in the serene surroundings.
Judith's life was marked by her unwavering dedication to her family, her church, and her community. Her kindness, generosity, and spirit of service were an inspiration to all who knew her. She will be remembered not only for her many contributions but also for her warm smile, her infectious laughter, and her unwavering faith.
Friends and family will be welcomed for visitation on Monday, November 27, 2023 from 2 pm - 7 pm at the Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home, 301 Curry Hollow Road, Pittsburgh, 15236. A funeral service will take place on Tuesday, November 28 at 10 am in the funeral home's chapel.
