Judith Elaine Etchison's Obituary
Judith Elaine (Gault) Etchison, born September 20, 1937 in McKeesport PA, died February 14, 2021 at Asbury Heights, Bower Hill Road, Mt. Lebanon. She was predeceased in 2007 by her husband of more than 50 years, the love of her life, Raymond N. Etchison.
Judy was the daughter of Laurence D.and Mildred Gardner Gault. She was graduated from McKeesport High School in 1955 and worked briefly at Westinghouse Bettis Atomic Laboratory from which her husband retired. The couple had many friends among their Palm Street neighbors and had been active in AARP and other community organizations.
Judy is survived by a sister, Darlene Kvaternik of Harrisburg, sister-in-law Janice Etchison (Ernie Cobb) of Virginia Beach,two children, Elaine M. (David) Chir of Baldwin and Laurence R. (Jennifer) Etchison of Mechanicsburg, PA; four grandchildren, Sarah Chir (Jason) Starr of Point OF Rocks, MD, Marie Chir of Baldwin, Rachel Chir of Pittsburgh, and Gunnar Etchison of Millersburg, PA . She was delighted to have two great-grandchildren, Sedona and Sonoran Starr.
Judy was a member of Beulah Park Methodist Church in McKeesport where she had volunteered for many years writing letters and sending cards and photographs to shut-ins. Judy had studied photography at South Allegheny College, and many of her photos involved the Rose Garden near her home in McKeesport. She took pride in the plants on her windowsill, and she took a keen interest in politics.
Judy had resided at Asbury Heights since 2012 and earlier had been active in Residents’ Council and the writers group. She had made many good friends among the residents and staff.
Judy will be buried beside her husband in Jefferson Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions can be made to The Salvation Army.
