Josephine E. Radan's Obituary
Josephine Elizabeth Radan died on Friday, November 18, 2022 at the age of 102. Beloved mother of Randall William (Karen) Kohler and Richard Alan Kohler; loving grandmother of Jared Randall (Brittany) Kohler, Rayna Lynn (Jared) Ankrom and Kristen Richard Kohler (Gail Wisnowski, mother of Kristen); great grandmother of Gabriel Alexander Kohler, Augustus Archer Kohler; Landen Paul Ankrom, Brody Frank Ankrom, and Daphne Rebecca Ankrom; Michael Andrew Rosseau (son of Kristen Kohler).
Josephine was employed by the U.S. government in a number of various positions from 1942 until her retirement in 1974. Josephine worked for the Internal Revenue Service for twenty-four years, holding various positions, including Manager of Tax Auditors for ten years. Josephine retired as an Appeals Officer in 1974. In addition to her government work Josephine worked at Kaufmann’s Department Store and found time to serve as a Cub Scout Mother
During Josephine’s forty-eight years of retirement she was very active in a number of organizations: President for “1,000 Toastmistress Club of Pittsburgh”, volunteer at Allegheny General Hospital, organizer and President of the Pittsburgh I.R.S. Retirees Club in 1980. Josephine was very active in the “National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association (NARFE).
Josephine was a charter member of “Older Adults Service and Information System” at Macy’s for over thirty years, where she planned and conducted exciting single and multi-day tours to various places in the United States.
Josephine was a member of St. Wendelin Catholic Church in Carrick/Baldwin for over fifty years. She was a member of the Catholic Business and Professional Women’s Association for over thirty years. She was involved as one of the founders of the “Holy Ghost Golden Age” holding many offices, including past President. In addition, Josephine worked on the Advisory Board of the Alzheimer Disease Alliance of Western PA for many years.
Writing personal notes was a top priority of Josephine. She thoughtfully remembered family and friends anniversaries, birthdays, and special occasions.
Josephine was a very caring and loving person who will be dearly missed by her family and numerous very special friends.
Family and friends will be received on Tuesday, November 22, 2022 from 2:00-7:00PM at the Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home Inc., 301 Curry Hollow Road, Pleasant Hills PA 15236. A Blessing Service will be held on Wednesday, November 23, 2022 from 10:00-10:30AM in the Funeral Home Chapel.
