Joseph and Marcella Schaffer, a beloved couple known for their adventurous spirits and deep love for family and friends, have completed their final journey together and passed into eternal rest. Their lives were a testament to enduring love and shared passions, leaving a legacy of joy and adventure that touched everyone they knew.
Joseph, son of the late Joseph and Arabella Schaffer, and Marcella, daughter of the late Edward and Elizabeth Yeager, were inseparable since they first met. Their love story was one for the ages, filled with laughter, companionship, and mutual respect. Together, they raised two wonderful daughters, Loren (Kathleen) Schaffer and Kirsten (Stewart) Gregory.
The Schaffers' adventurous spirit was legendary. They explored the vast beauty of the United States, taking their motor home to all 50 states. Their travels didn't stop at the country's borders; they ventured through Canada and visited several countries overseas, embracing new cultures and experiences. In their younger years, Joseph and Marcella shared a passion for horses, an interest that brought them closer to nature and each other. They also enjoyed the freedom of the open road on their Harley, with the wind in their hair and the sun on their faces.
Joseph is survived by his sister, Linda (Tom) Bowen. Marcella's memory is cherished by her sister, Debbie Guenther. She was predeceased by her other sister Suzanne Staab. The couple's legacy continues through their adored grandson, Joseph 'Joey' Gregory. They are also survived by nieces, nephews and dear friends.
The Schaffers were pillars of their community, known for their generosity and the love they had for their friends. They created a circle of warmth that extended far beyond their immediate family, touching the lives of all who had the pleasure of knowing them.
Joseph and Marcella Schaffer's journey together may have come to a peaceful end, but the memories they created and the love they shared will continue to inspire and comfort their family and friends for generations to come. They will be deeply missed, yet forever remembered as a couple who truly lived life to the fullest, side by side, with grace and joy.
A funeral service to honor Joseph and Marcella will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2024 at 10:00 am at the Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home, 301 Curry Hollow Road, Pittsburgh, 15236. Inurnment to follow in Jefferson Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to either Bridges Hospice or Concordia Hospice of Washington.
