Joseph "Rege" Gilligan's Obituary
His Irish Eyes Are Looking Down on Us! Age 89, of South Park, passed away on January 25, 2017. Joseph (Rege) was a military veteran who served for four and half years in the U.S. Navy during WWII, and was a Union plumber for over 30 years (Local 27). Rege grew up camping as a young child in Erie and continued that tradition with his own family; where he enjoyed the water, boating, and countless campfires. Over the years he enjoyed traveling to all 50 states with his beloved wife, Lorraine by his side. He is preceded in death by his wife Lorraine D. Gilligan (Volpatti), parents Henry R. and Catherine G. Gilligan, brother Richard, sister Joan ( Jim) Lemp and granddaughter Brittany Lee Molitor. Beloved father of Gary, James and Debra (Molitor) Gilligan; Survived by three sisters, Patricia (John) Goelz, Elizabeth (the late Rudy) Mudrich, Loretta Schaffer, and sister-in-law Alice ; Seven Grandchildren, Beau, Courtnie (Clewett) and Jessica (Bates) Gilligan, Michelle (Shimps) and Jason Molitor, Breann (Novak) and Casey (Little) Gilligan; and 5 Great-Grandchildren, Corey, Isaiah, Uriah, Jonah, and Kinley. His life will be celebrated at a private ceremony on Wednesday July 26, 2017 at 10 AM at the Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. Inurnment with full military honors will be at Jefferson Memorial Park.
