Joseph Carnovale's Obituary
Joseph Carnovale passed peacefully into his eternal life on February 25, 2023.
Joe was born on February 9, 1936 in San Nicola da Crissa in Italy, the son of Raffaele and Vincenza Carnovale.
The 87 years of his earthly life were filled with love for his family, hard work, and strong faith. Joe had a long career as a machinist and also worked over 20 years at St. Anne's Catholic Church taking care of the facilities, maintenance and groundskeeper.
He had a passion for woodworking, fixing things, gardening, playing games, doing puzzles, learning new things and cooking his favorite foods, pasta and pitti. He received his GED at age 50. Many have been blessed with his passion for helping people. He also cherished his Italian heritage and those traditions will live on in his family. Joe was a devout Catholic and we are comforted knowing he is resting in peace in the arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. "Well done good and faithful servant!" Matthew 25:23
Joseph is survived by his children Nancy (Dave) McDonald, Kathleen (Mark) Andrews, and Vince Carnovale; grandchildren Jason McDonald, Amanda Andrews and Brittany Andrews; brother, Vito (Eugenia); as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Preceded in death by his wife of 34 years, Mary; his parents; and his siblings, Vincenzo (Marianna), Rosamaria (Vito), Maria Grazia (Vito), Antonio (Angela) and Liberata, and long time companion Helen Goebel.
Family and friends will be received on Friday, March 3, 2023 from 2 - 4 pm and 6 - 8 pm at the Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home, 301 Curry Hollow Road, Pittsburgh, 15236. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday, March 4 at 9:30 am at St. Paul of the Cross Parish, St. Anne Worship Site, 400 Hoodridge Drive, Castle Shannon, PA 15234.
