John M. Varlotto John M. Varlotto, 80 of Bethel Park, peacefully departed this life July 13, 2016. John was the son of the late Frank and Francis (DiCenzo) Varlotto; beloved husband of 57 years to Lucille (DeBaldo) Varlotto loving father of Andrea Gaus and her husband Scott of Rockville, MD; Gina D’Angelo and her husband Kevin of Ellicot City, MD, Dr. John Varlotto, Jr. and his wife Angela of Sudbury, MA, Lisa Regan and her husband Steve of Bethel Park, PA and Dana Graham and her husband John of Tucson, AZ. John had three siblings, his deceased brothers Frank and Richard and his surviving sister, Marilyn Acquaviva, as well as their spouses Margaret Varlotto, Joanne Varlotto, and Nicholas Acquaviva, respectively. John leaves behind 9 loving grandchildren (Gabriella D’Angelo, Grant and Grace Regan, Jonathan and Margaret Gaus, Gia and Felicia Varlotto and Jack and Max Graham) as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was a proud veteran of the Army and was stationed for two years at Fort Sill, Oklahoma which served as the birthplace of his eldest child. John was a talented and accomplished musician, playing both the accordion and organ. His accordion performances with other musicians provided lively entertainment at weddings and other celebratory events. He could easily play diverse music styles including Italian opera, polkas, and rock as well as the music of Frank Sinatra and Louis Prima. As a businessman and general contractor, John built many homes in the South Hills region as well as his own commercial rental properties through the companies, Lujon Construction and JLV Rentals. His business acumen was recognized by the South Hills Jaycees who awarded him businessman of he year honors in 1985. After more than 30 years in business, John retired in 2000 after building his last home for his daughter, Lisa. John was a loyal member of the Rotary Club of Pleasant Hills for 38 years and served twice at its President and was honored as a Paul Harris Fellow. He will always be remembered for his humor, great stories, music, personal warmth, movie knowledge, close friendships and his strong family bond to his wife Lucille, his children, and grandchildren. Family will receive friends on Sunday from 2-4 pm and 6-9 pm at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Homes Inc., 301 Curry hollow Rd. Pittsburgh PA 15236. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday 10 am at St Thomas More Church 126 Fort Couch Rd, Pittsburgh, PA 15241. Lucille and her family would like to thank Home Instead Senior Care, Pilgrimage Hospice and the many caregivers who have cared for John the past several months. In lieu of flowers, John’s family respectfully requests that donations be made in John’s name to Pilgrimage Hospice, 2000 Cliff Mine Road, Suite 100, Pittsburgh, PA 15275.
