John F. 'Jack' Toomey, Jr., age 77, passed away on Friday, February 14, 2025.
Jack's passion for community shone brightly during his 20-year tenure as Council President of Holiday Campgrounds, where he fostered a sense of camaraderie and joy among campers. His expertise as an NRA instructor reflected his belief in responsibility and empowerment, traits he instilled in countless individuals.
A proud employee of LTV Steel, Jack devoted 37 years to the industry, demonstrating an unwavering work ethic and resilience. His legacy is one of service, friendship, and the indelible impact he made on the lives he touched. Jack's memory will be treasured as a guiding light that continues to inspire.
Jack is survived by his loving wife Peg Toomey; children Chris (the late Ray) Cervone and Scott (Josetta) Toomey; grandchildren Kara Morrow, Shane (Katelynn), Kevin, Alexander, Jessica, and Emily; great-grandchildren Adalynn and Teddy; sister-in-law Carol (David) Diemert; also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents John Sr. and Dorothy Toomey, siblings Timothy Toomey and Sherry Toomey, sister-in-law Verne (Willis) Scariot, and his Grandma Casey who he shared a special bond with.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 18, 2025 from 12:00 pm - 8:00 pm at the Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home, 301 Curry Hollow Road, Pittsburgh 15236. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 19 at 11:00 am in the funeral home's chapel. Burial to follow in Jefferson Memorial Park.
