John R. Shipley's Obituary
With profound sadness, we announce the unexpected passing of John R. Shipley, age 47, of Wilmerding, formerly of Bethel Park, on Tuesday, December 3, 2024. Born on November 10, 1977, John was the cherished son of Ray (Yolanda) Shipley and the late Lynn (Rakow) Shipley. In addition to his father and stepmother, John is survived by his brothers, David (Teri) Shipley and Tim (Karen) Shipley; numerous stepbrothers and stepsisters; his beloved nephews, Dylan and Damien, and niece, Kiera. John leaves behind many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
John's love for sports was unmatched, never missing a chance to cheer for his Pittsburgh teams. He had a special bond with animals, always ready to care for his friends' and family's pets. John had an infectious personality, lighting up every room he entered and leaving a lasting impact on everyone who met him.
John was known for his generosity and kindness, always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. His laughter and sense of humor brought joy to everyone around him. He was a dedicated friend, a loving family member, and a pillar for those who knew him.
Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation on Saturday, December 7, 2024, from 4:00 - 6:00 pm at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home, 301 Curry Hollow Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15236. A service celebrating John's life will follow at 6:00 pm in the chapel. Burial will be held privately.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in John's name may be made to the SPCA of Pittsburgh, reflecting his deep love for animals. John's legacy of compassion and love will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him.
