Nina Curtis
Uncle John, we miss you dearly and I’ve thought long and hard over the past month on how I can best write a tribute that speaks to the wonderful life and legacy that many of us from across the U.S. to Europe will forever cherish. A well known Master Artist that valued human kindness just like “it’s a good day in the neighborhood”… I recognized the many John & Jeannie visits with my Parents to be full of laughter and calming afternoons over coffee, pastries, and pizzas (the good ol’ days in my neighborhood).
I truly believe my Uncle had two Brothers named “Fred” —Fred Del Monte (famous musician & Band Director) and the second “Fred” — “Mister Rogers” from Latrobe, PA. Uncle John was as fascinating and an admirable character in similar ways. Coincidentally, John had several art exhibitions at Saint Vincent College where Fred Rogers established his Center for Early Learning & Children’s Media. Both Men were great Teachers & Instructors that touched so many lives. In his remembrance, I want to share his few words of wisdom “truth is happiness”. These are indelible as we each move forward to pursue life’s purpose. RIP Uncle John and may
God Bless All of the family in the days ahead,
Nina Curtis
