John Jerome Bauer's Obituary
John Jerome Bauer, age 55, of Brentwood, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, January 5, 2026. John was born on January 28, 1970, in Pittsburgh, the son of the late Jerome J. and Janet A. (Krauth) Bauer.
John grew up in Dormont where he attended local schools, graduating from Keystone Oaks High School. He went on to proudly and honorably serve his country in the United State Air Force where he was a senior airman during Operation Desert Shield/Storm.
Following his time in the service, John enjoyed a career at Jerome's Tavern as the bar manager. In his free time, he enjoyed the outdoors both camping and fishing. A Pittsburgh native, he never missed the opportunity to cheer on the Steelers. With his love for football, he was the founder of Jerome's Fantasy Football League.
Above all else, John's greatest joy in life came from the time spent with his family. A loving father and cherished grandfather, John will be deeply missed by all those who knew him.
John is survived by his children, Melissa (Adam) James, Joseph Bauer and Sarah (Zach Bevilacqua) Bauer; grandchildren, Samantha and Thomas James; aunts and uncles, Nancy (the late Robert) Fenton, Kathy L. Krauth-Miller and Albert (Skip) Miller; and cousins, Kimberly (John) Amadio, Samantha (Corey) Amadio, Johnathon Amadio and Kaitlyn Amadio. He also leaves many beloved friends including Doug, Tom, Marko and Dwain.
Relatives and friends are invited to join the family for visitation on Friday, January 9, 2026, from 4:00 - 8:00 pm at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home, 301 Curry Hollow Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15236. A service in honor of John will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2026, at 2:30 pm in the chapel at the funeral home. Burial with military honors will follow at Jefferson Memorial Park.
