John G. Allman's Obituary
John Gaver Allman, 92, passed away peacefully in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on Thursday, April 30th, 2026. Born on July 24th, 1933, in Orlando, West Virginia, he was the son of Everett William Allman and Nina Irene (Woodell) Allman.
John dedicated his career to mechanical engineering, specializing in blast furnaces, and was a founder of Pittsburgh International Engineering. He was known for his strong work ethic and commitment to his craft. His career took him to locations around the world. During the Korean conflict, he served in the U.S. Army in Austria, where he also played goaltender for the Salzburg Hockey Club.
He will be remembered for his kindness, wit, and generosity, for the way he always put family first, and for his ability to fix anything. In his free time, he enjoyed following the Pittsburgh Penguins and Pirates, tinkering in his workshop, and collecting novels by Jack Higgins.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy Carolyn Allman; his three children, Brad, Terry, John (Alison); three grandchildren, Erica, Derek, and Taylor.
Relatives and friends are invited to join the family for visitation from 2:00 - 4:00 pm and 6:00 - 8:00 pm on Monday, May 4, 2026, at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home, 301 Curry Hollow Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15236.
