Obituary
Joan Frances Schmidt (Carney), age 87, of Upper St. Clair, formerly Jefferson Hills, passed away peacefully on October 19, 2016. She is survived by Ronald R. Schmidt, her loving husband of 65 years; her children MaryEllen (Bruce) Lammel, Gregory, Karen (Peter) Agud, and James (Deniece); her grandchildren Olivia, Zachary, Michael, Caitlin, Jake, Emily, Sophia and Jared; and her puppy Lacy. She was preceded in death by her sister (Vivian) and her brother (Robert). Joan loved her family, reading, current events, calligraphy, opera, crossword puzzles, airplanes and the Red Hat Society. She earned her bachelor degree from Florida Southern College and her law degree from the University of Houston. She will be missed and will live on in our hearts. Family and friends will be received at JEFFERSON MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, INC. (301 Curry Hollow Road, Pittsburgh, 15236) on Sunday, October 23rd from 1pm to 3pm and from 5pm to 7pm. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:30am on Monday October 24th in the funeral home chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association (alz.org).
