Joan Irene Weston's Obituary
Weston
Joan Irene (Jones)
Joan Irene (Jones) Weston, age 78, passed away Monday, October 4, 2021, from complications of brain cancer.
Joan spent her early childhood in Everson, PA. Her family moved to West Mifflin in the 1950's, and Joan graduated from St. Elizabeth High School in 1960. She and her high school sweetheart, David, married in 1961 and raised their family in the South Hills area of Pittsburgh.
Joan once said of herself that she was bossy, cranky, didn't make friends easily, and didn't follow instructions well; and all that was true. But she was also caring, insatiably curious, quietly generous, and loved a good laugh. She had a big personality, and her death leaves a big hole in our family.
Joan was preceded in death by her parents, Wayne and Anna Jones, and her sister and brother-in-law, Eileen and Cecil Watkins. She is survived by David, her husband of 60 years; children Linda, Cliff, and Matthew (Kristen); grandchildren Hannah, Caleb, Noah, Jack, and Megan; and other beloved relatives.
Family and friends are welcomed on Saturday, October 9, 2021 from 4 to 7 pm & Sunday, October 10, 2021 from 2 to 5 pm at the Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home, Inc., 301 Curry Hollow Road, Pleasant Hills. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, October 11, at 10 am, at Triumph of the Holy Cross Parish, Saint Elizabeth of Hungary Church, 1 Grove Place, Pittsburgh.
If you wish to make a donation in Joan's memory, the family suggests a disabled veterans' organization, your local food bank, or the Salvation Army.
