Jeffrey Wilson Taylor's Obituary
Jeffrey Wilson Taylor of Pittsburgh, PA, passed away on Thursday, August 25th at the age of 70. He was born January 15th, 1952, son of the late Jacob Wilson and Wilda Mae (Coughenour) Taylor. Jeff fought a valiant battle with dementia, but eventually succumbed to heart and respiratory failure. He passed away with dignity, surrounded by his loving family.
Jeff is survived by his wife Jackie (Doering), daughter Julie (Kevin) Henzel, son Jeff (Paul) Florez-Taylor, grandchildren Mira and Stella Henzel, sister Suzan (late Patrick) Petersen, brother Thomas (JoAnn) Taylor, and numerous nieces and nephews. Jeff was preceded in death by his parents.
Jeff grew up in Clairton, PA and graduated from Clairton High School in 1969. He went on to complete a bachelor’s degree in Secondary Business Education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP) in 1973, and later earned a master’s degree at the University of Pittsburgh and an elementary teaching certificate at Point Park University. Jeff spent most of his professional career working as a business teacher at Clairton High School and then Baldwin-Whitehall High School. He was fondly described by his students as an engaging teacher who loved to infuse fun and creativity into his lessons. Jeff was actively involved in the swimming programs within Clairton and Baldwin-Whitehall School Districts.
Jeff was a loving, committed, and beloved husband, father, “Pap,” brother, and uncle. He enjoyed spending time with family, being silly with his grandkids, relaxing in the outdoors, and exploring regional parks. Jeff is fondly remembered by his family as “Mr. Fix-It,” who enjoyed completing numerous impressive DIY projects at his home, and helping his children with projects at their homes and during their countless moves. He also enjoyed giving sage advice through telling life stories. In his younger years, he was a proud Eagle Scout, avid baseball player, and member of his high school track and field and swimming and diving teams. He swam competitively during part of his college career at IUP. Jeff was a member of the Windover Hills United Methodist Church in Pittsburgh, PA.
Jeff’s life will be honored with a viewing on Sunday, August 28th from 1-4 PM at the Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home, Inc., 301 Curry Hollow Road, Pittsburgh.
A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, August 29, 2022 at 12 noon in the Funeral Home's Chapel.
