Jean Ann Smay's Obituary
On December 22, 2024 we lost our loving Mother/Bubba after 85 blessed years. They say laughter is the best medicine and it was a guarantee Mum would always make you smile and laugh. She would light up a room with her humor and wittiness. Jean was extremely proud of her daughters Kelli Smay-Mayfield of Baldwin and Traci (Duke) Kessler of Bethel Park. Jean dearly loved her grandchildren Ashli and Brandon Mayfield, David and Brooke Kessler as well as her great grandchildren Cameron and Caeson Bedell.
Jean was born in Portage Pa on June 11,1939, a daughter of Mary & Joseph Novotny. In addition to her parents, Jean being the baby of the family preceded in death by siblings Mary, Genn, Julie, Anna, Dorothy, Joan and George and survived by a wonderful brother-in-law Tom Wilwohl. She adored her friendships with childhood friend Babe Barrish Reighard, also friend Melvina Shiber. She cherished her nieces Robin Wilwohl, Patti Prebish and Paula Smith.
Jean loved to talk on the phone, do her word search, flick through the channels on the TV while enjoying her favorite food pizza and chocolate milk. She was known for her honesty, heart, soul, laughter and the love she shared with those fortunate enough to know her. She never turned her back on anyone no matter what.
Today and always may loving memories of Jean bring you peace, comfort and love.
Relatives and friends are invited to join the family for visitation from 2:00 - 4:00 pm and 6:00 - 8:00 pm on Friday, December 27, 2024, at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home, 301 Curry Hollow Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15236. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, December 28, 2024, at St. Germaine Church, 7003 Baptist Rd, Bethel Park, PA 15102. Burial will follow at Jefferson Memorial Park.
