Jean R. Cain's Obituary
Jean Ruth Cain, daughter of the late George Martin and LaVern Maxwell Martin was born on November 21, 1945 in McKeesport, Pennsylvania. She worked as an X-Ray transcriptionist at McKeesport Hospital and then at Braddock Hospital. At an early age, Jean enjoyed roller skating where she danced her way around the rink many times a week. She was a member of the congregation at Pine Run United Methodist Church.
Jean was united in marriage to Leroy Cain on June 23, 1971 - where they continued to grow their relationship for over 49 years. As the family grew, she became a loving mother of 4 children.
Jean was known for her love of Elvis… and her love of the beach. After years of dreaming of a place at the beach, she became a snowbird spending the winters in Myrtle Beach. She loved sitting on the balcony with the dogs, watching the activities at the beach. She looked forward to having brunch and seeing her friends at the Golden Egg. Her favorite past time was attending Bingo with her husband, and the many friends she made at the Broughton Firehall.
Jean had a positive outlook on life, always looking for the bright side of any situation. Her favorite saying was 'Be Nice', which she stated quite often. She would do anything for her family - Always putting them in front of her own needs, and always there when help was needed. Jean departed this life in the presence of family in the hospital in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina after succumbing to her battle with COPD. She was proceeded in death by her husband Leroy Cain and her sister Donna.
Her life will forever be cherished in the lives of her children: Carrie Cain Hovan, Chad Cain, Bill Cain and Lisa Cain Miller; 16 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; sister Lanna Martin Hernley; brother-in-law Kendall Hernley; and many devoted nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
