Jane Wacker's Obituary
Jane (Fricker) Wacker, 78, of West Mifflin, passed away peacefully Saturday, January 3, 2026, in her home. Daughter of Fred Fricker and Grace (Matthews) Fricker. Beloved wife of the late Philip M. "Phil" Wacker, who passed in 2009.
Born in Munhall, Pennsylvania, Jane lived in several places throughout her life but always considered the Pittsburgh area her home. She was a proud and dedicated registered nurse, known for her compassion, strong work ethic, and lifelong devotion to caring for others.
Jane was also preceded in death by her eldest son, Ronald W. Smith, who passed in 2006.
She is survived by her sons, James F. Smith and his wife, Zaira M. Smith, of Austin, Texas, and David F. Smith and his wife, Cari Smith, of Pittsburgh; and her thirteen grandchildren, Luz Iara, Ana Victoria, Megan Joy, Morgan, Tyler, Christian, Nicholas, Garrett, Jonathan, Lilly, Leah, David Jr., and Elijah. She is also survived by her siblings, Frederick J. Fricker, Carol Lee Fricker, and Robert Fricker, and four great-grandchildren.
Jane will be remembered as a loving and generous mother, grandmother, and friend whose kindness and steady presence left a lasting mark on everyone who knew her.
A service to celebrate Jane's life will be held on Saturday, January 17, at 2:00 p.m. at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home, 301 Curry Hollow Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15236.
A committal service will be held on Tuesday, January 20, at 11:00 a.m. at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, where she will be laid to rest alongside her late husband, Philip M. Wacker.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Pittsburgh Humane Society.
