James Thomas Nelson's Obituary
James T. Nelson, age 85, of Aurora, OH, was promoted to Heaven on Saturday, December 20, 2025, surrounded by the love of family. Born in Pittsburgh, PA, on June 27, 1940, James was the son of the late Marshall and Mary Nelson.
James was the beloved husband of 63 years to Judith Nelson; the loving father of Colleen Ann (William) Thyret and Bradley James (Frances S.) Nelson; and the cherished grandfather of James Milone, Luke, Issac, and Elliott Thyret, and Nathan, Jacob, Matthew, Lydia and Jared Miller. James was also the great grandfather of Molly, Weston, Olivia, Benjamin, and Kohen, all recent adorable additions.
In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his brother, Richard (Audrey) Nelson and grandparents, Fred Otto and Agnes Nelson.
James graduated from Carrick High School and attended several years at Waynesburg College, then went on to proudly serve his country in the United States Army. He enjoyed a long career in computer technologies, holding many titles throughout the years, retiring as Director of IT. Alongside his wife, Judy, he was a faithful member of Library Baptist Church while in Pennsylvania and then Parkside Church while in Ohio.
A Pittsburgh native, James was an avid Steeler's fan. James had a green thumb and enjoyed tending to his day lily garden. An outdoorsman, he cherished the time spent with his family at the cottage. James was a dedicated and loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who will be deeply missed by those who loved him.
Relatives and friends are invited to join the family for a service in honor of James on Friday, December 26, 2025, at 2:00 pm, at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home, 301 Curry Hollow Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15236. Burial will follow at Jefferson Memorial Park.
