James J. McVeigh's Obituary
James J. McVeigh, age 57 of Canonsburg and formerly of Bethel Park, PA, passed away on Sunday, November 21, 2021 after a long battle with Covid-19 and pneumonia.
Born October 6, 1964 in Pittsburgh, he was the son of the late James McVeigh and Patricia McVeigh of the South Side. A graduate of Bethel Park High School and the police academy, he was employed by the Port Authority of Allegheny County for almost 30 years. Jim was known for his huge personality and presence at any gathering.
Spending time with his wife and sons as well as extended family and lifelong friends, in the pool, running the grill, or on vacation at the beach, was his absolute joy. Jim brought the party with his contagious smile. Jim, Chrissy and the boys always looked forward to family Friday movie nights with great movies, popcorn and each other's company. A dedicated sports fan, he loved his Steelers, Penguins, Pirates and Pitt Panthers. He made sure everyone knew how he felt about every play.
Jim is survived by his loving wife of 21 years, Christine (Jones) and their two sons, Ian James and Tyler David of Canonsburg; his mother Patricia McVeigh of Canonsburg; sisters, Colleen Dundas of McDonald, Kathy (Rick Lopez) McVeigh of Bethel Park, Kelly (Mike) Jennison of Cranberry, and Beth (Terry) Smith of Bethel Park; in-laws Jennifer and Jeff Davis of Hopewell Twp., Greg and Linda Jones of Baldwin, and Jeff and Debbie Jones of Brentwood; numerous adored nieces, nephews and great nephews; a fantastic group of lifelong friends; and his Port Authority family.
He was proceded in death by his father, James McVeigh; his twin sister, Kelly Ann and his niece Carli Dundas.
Friends will be received on Friday, November 26th from 12-3 P.M. and 5-8 P.M. and Saturday, November 27th from 10 A.M. until the time of the Blessing Service at 12 NOON at the Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home, 301 Curry Hollow Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15236.
Interment will be in Jefferson Memorial Park, Pleasant Hills, PA.
