James T. Hastie's Obituary
James T. Hastie, Age 100, of Whitehall, passed away peacefully on February 7th, 2017. Devoted husband to Rae Thetford Hastie and father of Jackie and Larry (Bones) Hastie.
James was born in Shotts, Scotland in 1917 and immigrated to Pittsburgh with his parents when he was a boy. Jim started working at Mesta Machine Co. after graduating from high school. Starting as a messenger boy, he worked his way up to machinist and eventually retired. James served in the US Navy during WWII and was stationed in various parts of the Pacific as a Sea Bee. Jim was known by many nick names. "Captain, Uncle Jim and Captain Video", were among the most popular. His sense of humor, wit and intelligence will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Visitation will be held Saturday February 11th from 2-4 and 6-8 pm and on Sunday from 2-4 pm at the Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home, Inc., 301 Curry Hollow Road, Pittsburgh, 15236.
