James Joseph Hagan's Obituary
James Joseph Hagan, 84, of Pittsburgh, beloved husband of Margaret Ellen (Husar), died peacefully surrounded by family at his home on Saturday, July 25, 2020.
Faith and family was of utmost importance in his life. The strong faith he had was shared with all until his last breath.
A lifelong resident of Pittsburgh, Mr. Hagan was born on October 19, 1935, the son of the late Bernard and Ellen (Boylan) Hagan.
Mr. Hagan worked for more than 35 years for the Pittsburgh Press/Pittsburgh Post Gazette where he spent the majority of his career as advertising production manager. Prior to this, Mr. Hagan began his profession in newspapers working for the Pittsburgh Sun-Telegraph, the place where he would meet his future wife of 60 years.
Following his retirement, Mr. Hagan enjoyed many hobbies but nothing could compare to the love he had for his grandchildren whether it was just spending time with them, or attending one of their school functions or sporting events. In addition to his wife, Mr. Hagan is survived by five children: Marcy Hagan, Kathy (Don) Marshall, Dennis (Beth) Hagan, Raymond Hagan, and Colleen (Don) Luffey; and eight grandchildren: James Donald “JD”, Ryan, Stefanie, Amanda, Justin, Jason, Jillian, and Jacob. Also surviving are one brother and three sisters: Brian Hagan, Mary Catherine (Bill) Peters, Peggy (Henry) DeOrio, and Rose (Tom) Ballew.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 29, 2020 from 2 PM to 4 PM and 6 PM to 8 PM at the JEFFERSON MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, INC., 301 Curry Hollow Rd., Pleasant Hills, 15236. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM at St. Sylvester Church. Please meet at church. Interment to follow at Jefferson Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Alzheimer's Research . Condolences may be left at www.jeffersonmemorial.biz.
