Age 72 of Brentwood, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 9, 2016 surrounded by his loving family.
Born August 28, 1943 in Pittsburgh, he is a son of the late James and Helen (Gardner) Dirling. James was a proud member of the Air National Guard, and was very active in the International order of DeMolay. He is retired as a Postmaster from the Gastonville, PA Post Office. James was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan and greatly enjoyed fishing.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister Evelyn (Dirling) Ray.
James is survived by his wife of 52 years, Sheila R. (Wilson) Dirling; sons James A. (Amy) Dirling Jr., Jeff A. (Victoria) Dirling, daughter Julie A. (James Jr.) Lancia; Grandchildren, Rebecca & Zachary Dirling, Ryan (Alex) DeBiase; Great grand daughter Rose DeBiase.
Family and friends will gather for visitation on Saturday, February 13, 2016 from 11:00 AM until the time of the Celebration of Life Service at 5:00 PM at the Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home - 301 Curry Hollow Rd. Pleasant Hills, PA 15236. At the conclusion of the services at the funeral home, the family will be gathering at Callabria's at 3107 Library Rd. Castle Shannon, PA 15234 where all are invited to share in a time of food and fellowship. Burial will be at Jefferson Memorial Park at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in James name may be made to the charity of the donors choice that supports depression research and treatment.
