Irene Unruh's Obituary
On Monday, December 7, 2020, Irene (Suprikow) Unruh, a native of Mt. Oliver, passed away peacefully at Paramount Senior Living in Bethel Park where she had been residing. Irene was the wife of the late Fred Unruh. She is preceded in death by her parents; Steve and Eva Suprikow and a sister, Alice Meyers; surviving are nieces, nephews and cousins.
Irene graduated from Brentwood High School, where she was named the Outstanding Student in her Senior Year. She then continued on in a career as Office Manager for Shields Rubber Company, where she was employed over 50 years until her retirement. Her Christian Faith was of the utmost importance to her. Irene was a founding member of South Hills Congregational Church of Brentwood.
Irene "The Shopper" known to many, was a very fashionable lady, who had a great love of travel. She and her late husband, Fred, were exceptionally generous to their family and friends while being a source of inspiration to all who knew and loved them.
Family will be receiving friends from 1:00 pm until time of funeral service at 3:30 PM Thursday in the Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home, Inc., 301 Curry Hollow Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15236. Private burial will take place in the cemetery. Given the current Pandemic situation, masks and social distancing are required.
