Helen (Holmes) Getty's Obituary
Helen (Holmes) Getty, formerly of Hazelwood, on Friday, September 29, 2017. Born March 21, 1928 to the late Arthur W. Sr. and Gaynell (Hamilton) Holmes. Preceded in death by her sisters and brothers, Viola R. (Tootie) Holmes Schwartz, Elvessa Holmes Varney, Arthur W. Holmes, Jr., and Cary B. (Ted) Holmes. On November 26, 1943, Helen married her spouse of 52 years, the late Shirley P. Getty, Sr. She is survived by her 3 children, Helen (Jack) Fleming, Shirley P. Getty, Jr., and Laura Getty; grandchildren, Scott (Susan) Fleming, Todd (Kimberly) Fleming, Cathy Marsili, Erin (Kevin) Harrigan, Dustin Getty, Stephanie Getty, Kevin Getty, and Adam Getty; and 10 great-grandchildren. Helen loved to play cards, go shopping, and travel. She liked to watch the Food Network and enjoyed cooking and taking care of her family. Helen was selfless and had a quiet strength. She was a devoted homemaker for her family and for that we are eternally grateful. Family and friends will be received for a graveside service at 12 noon on Saturday, September 30, at Jefferson Memorial Park. Please meet at the JEFFERSON MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, INC., 301 Curry Hollow Road, Pittsburgh, 15236, by 11:45 AM.
