Age 93, Whitaker, PA passed away in her home on Friday, May 26, 2017. Helen was born July 16, 1923 in West Mifflin, PA. Helen lived her life on her own terms until the end. When her macular degeneration deteriorated to the point of interfering with her quality of life she courageously elected to stop taking her medications for her other medical conditions. A tribute and celebration of Helen's life will be held on July 16, 2017 with the location and time to be published later allowing all out of state guests to attend. The family appreciates Father Terry O'Connor, St. Therese of Lisieux Church, Munhall, who delivered a beautiful bedside sacrament of the sick prior to her passing. Members of the family are especially grateful for the wonderful hospice nurse, Meghan Sunder, and hospice social worker, Candy Pulaski, of Heartland Hospice for their professionalism, attentiveness and around the clock caring attitudes.
