Harry, you will be missed, for a great number of things. These are some of the things, 1. meeting and telling Becky that she would marry you at 14 years of age. 2. Telling Becky the night of our first meeting that you met the girl Jack was going to marry. 3. spraying shaving cream on my daughter Julie, causing a big, fun , fight between you and her. 4. The dinners you served us over the years ( trying all your own recipes) And all the fun times over the years. Thanks for all the good feelings and memories. You will be missed. Rest in Peace.

On one visit to see Harry and Becky a few years ago, Harry asked me if I wanted to learn how to cook something. Or quite possibly, he might have told me he was going to teach me to cook something. Either way, as a result, I am a proud holder of a certificate showing that I passed a course in Matzo Ball soup preparation from the Harry Dietz School of Cooking. Yes - he really did print me a certificate. I have a slight suspicion that I may have been graded on a curve (as I'm sure he didn't want to fail his daughter-in-law), but he was a patient teacher, we had a good time, and I do still feel confident that I can make a good matzo ball. Even though we lived in different states, I will miss our talks on the phone with his practical take on things, his love for his family, his overlooking my lack of knowledge regarding the latest Steeler's game, and his particular mix of sweet and funny.
