Harriet Hammer Caveney's Obituary
Harriet Hammer Caveney, 94, of Erie, PA, formerly of Pittsburgh, PA, passed away on June 2, 2026. Born on June 27, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Herman W. and Mary Hammer and Harriet M. Abbott.
A distinguished payroll clerk at Allegheny General Hospital, Harriet dedicated many years of her life to serving others in the medical field, prior to her retirement in 1992. After retirement, Harriet moved to Erie, PA, where she nurtured her relationships with her grandchildren. She also generously volunteered for many years at Mercyhurst Preparatory School, a testament to her selfless spirit.
As a Christian, Harriet's faith guided her life, instilling in her an enduring sense of compassion and kindness towards all. Her family and friends, profoundly grateful for the warmth and wisdom she shared, will carry her memory in their hearts forever. Those closest to her will always remember the handwritten cards they received from Harriet on the most important days of their lives.
Harriet is survived by her children, Ray (Darlene) Caveney, Patricia (Raymond) Schlott, and Bob (Mary Ann) Caveney; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and sister, Carolyn Hammer.
In addition to her parents, Harriet was preceded in death by her son, Dennis Caveney; daughter-in-law, Nancy Caveney; brother, Richard Hammer; and sister-in-law, Lois Hammer.
Family and friends are welcome for visitation on Saturday, June 6, 2026, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home, 301 Curry Hollow Rd, Pittsburgh PA, 15236. A Funeral Service will take place on Sunday, June 7, 2026, at 2:00 pm in the Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home chapel.
Interment will be handled by Jefferson Memorial Park.
