Harold "Eddie" Edward Godbolt's Obituary
PITTSBURGH – Harold “Eddie” Edward Godbolt, 81, passed away on Wednesday, April 10, 2024. He was the beloved husband of Evelyn J. (Edwards) Godbolt.
Born March 3, 1943, in Pittsburgh, Eddie was a son of the late Ralph and Rose (Wiggins) Godbolt. After high school, Eddie worked for Westinghouse until they closed the factory. Then he decided to follow his passion and became an independent contractor in construction. Eddie was a master of his craft; he was known for coming home and working on his and Evelyn’s house. She remembers times coming home and he changed all the lighting in the kitchen or constructed a shed in the back yard. Never having a blueprint, but going off the ideas in his head, always creating something wonderful for the family to enjoy. You couldn’t drive far without running into a property he worked on. Drywall, painting, or a new wooden deck. He did it all. In his free time, Eddie was an avid card player, and in his younger years he could be found at his friends bar ‘Earl The Pearl’. Who had a special room for cards. He also enjoyed reading books and listening to 50’s and 60’s music, particularly Motown and jazz.
In addition to his beloved wife Evelyn, Eddie is survived by his children, Rosetta Godbolt, Charitia Godbolt, Erin Godbolt, Harold “Eddie” Godbolt Jr, Ralph Godbolt (Shay), Sabrina Godbolt Cox (JD). Eddie will be fondly remembered by his twin sisters, Joanne Hardy (Henry) and Jacqueline Rozier (Dewitt, Deceased). Many grandchildren, great grandchildren, uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Eddie is preceded in death by his parents Ralph and Rose, brothers William “Bill” Godbolt and Burrell “Butch” Clifford Godbolt and oldest son, Derrick Godbolt.
Family and friends are welcome to attend Eddie’s viewing at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home, 301 Curry Hollow Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15236 from 11 AM – 2 PM on Wednesday, April 17, 2024. Following the viewing, there will be a Celebration of Life, a time of sharing memories and stories to commemorate Eddie’s life well lived.
