Hans was born on March 13, 1930, in Pittsburgh, PA. He graduated from the Carnegie Institute of Technology in 1952 and from Harvard Business School in 1956. Hans was a First Lieutenant in the U.S. Army with an honorable discharge in 1954. He had a very successful business career as an Executive Vice President of AMF, Inc. He was a Trustee at Carnegie Mellon University from 1982-2001 and the President of the Andrew Carnegie Society from 1992-1994. Hans loved to spend time with his beloved wife, Rainy. They were avid boaters and traveled the country together; never an "un-dull" moment with "H" and "R". He passed peacefully at home with his "hunny" at his side.
