Wow, I just received this news about Gregg via a mutual friend. I enjoyed Gregg's company and friendly conversations at Tidewater Striders' events. He and many other runners are the reason why I desire to run and be close to other runners. Gregg seemed to always have a smile and a good story to share. I will miss Gregg and I am happy to have known him. God bless you, my friend.
Sending my deepest condolences to the Shaffer family. I met Gregg in 2012 when I started as an apprentice at Norfolk Naval Shipyard. We worked on the same floor for the last 4 years. I was privileged to be placed under his employ for a short time and I am grateful that I was. He was kind and funny. He would always call me Miss Lillian every time he saw me and I would laugh and tell him I was still a youngin'. Every time I walked past his office, I would pop my head in and say \"Good to see you.\" He would smile in response and say \"Good to see you too, Miss Lillian.\" I'm going to miss Gregg. Thanks for the laughter, lessons, and kindness. Your marathon here on earth is finished. Well done, Gregg.
My deepest condolences. Gregg is a part of our Norfolk Naval Shipyard family. I met Gregg in June of 2009 when I was assigned to him as a new employee, Gregg provided me with every tool necessary to be successful within my new role and a strong foundation to build upon, I am extremely gracious. We worked together as a two man team repairing transmitters that first year and had some of the best conversations about life, work and family. Over the years we have developed a wonderful friendship. Whenever I'd walk pass his office, or encounter him on the work floor I would call his name out loud \"GREGORY\" and without fail he would always reply \"MAREDA\". i'm gonna miss that. Gregg's presence made a difference for me, I know it did the same for all his co-workers and employees. I posted a picture from a Norfolk Tides baseball game we attended together in 2012, we had a great deal of fun that night. thanks for every thing \"GREOGRY\"

My deepest heartfelt sympathies to Gregg's family. I knew Gregg from the YMCA and running/triathlons. He was one of the group that inspired me to get into racing. Sunday bike rides will not be the same without Gregg (drafting all the way, then sprinting to beat all of us at the end)!! He always had such a positive attitude and kind spirit with everyone and every challenge he encountered. Healing thoughts and prayers to all his loved ones. Gregg, you will be missed...enjoy the infinite trails and paths on which to run and ride in Heaven!
My deepest sympathy goes out to the family, friends, colleagues and neighbors on the passing of the beloved Gregg. He is sorely missed.
Our deepest sympathies to Gregg's family. Even though we were originally from Canonsburg, we meet Gregg through the Tidewater Striders and triathlons. He always had a smile and was a great competitor. May he Rest in Peace. Wallie and Joe Polinski

Gregg will always be close to my heart. We spent many hours and years together training side by side. My fondest memories were our long runs at Seashore State Park, sharing our thoughts and life with each other... I am so grateful to have known Gregg, If you are listening Gregg, Godspeed...and thank you.
