Gordon Robert Lawson's Obituary
Gordon "Skip" Lawson, 76, of Jefferson Hills, PA. sadly passed away on November 5, 2025. He was born in McKeesport, PA to the late Gordon E. and Laverne L. Lawson.
Skip was a graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School. After high school, he joined the US Navy from 1967-1970 where he achieved the rank of an E5 Aviation Technician. During this time, he married the love of his life, Checka, with whom he spent a wonderful 56 years. Following his time in the Navy, he went on to work as a foreman at U.S. Steel, then monitoring air and water quality at area steel mills for Veolia.
In his younger years, Skip often enjoyed going fishing. From early on and into his later years, he was also an avid Pirates fan. Of all his hobbies, his greatest joy was found in spending time with his family. He was the Pap of all seasons, attending all his grandchildren's sporting events. He loved his children and grandchildren, providing them with an example of how to live an honest life. He was a hardworking, trustworthy, and wise role model for many. These qualities will continue to live on in everyone who loved him and were fortunate to have him in their lives.
Skip is survived by his loving wife Frances (Checka) Lawson; his children Jason (Jean) Lawson and Lynn (Chad) Lawson Gore; grandchildren Brooke, Gabe, Maura and Luke Lawson, Camryn and Zach Gore; siblings Mary (Beryl) Denne, Jeff (Cindy) Lawson, Jay (Leslie) Lawson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents and brother Con Lawson.
Friends and family will be received from 1-4pm and 6-8pm on Saturday, November 8, 2025 at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home, Inc., 301 Curry Hollow Road, Pleasant Hills, PA, 15236.
A Funeral Service will be held at 10am on Sunday, November 9, 2025 in the funeral home chapel.
Burial will be handled by Jefferson Memorial Park.
