George Petras' Obituary
George S. Petras, age 60, of Finleyville, formerly of McKeesport, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family. He went to be with his Lord and Savior on February 8th, 2020. He was a devoted husband of 34 years to Patricia A. (Messina) Petras; father of George M. Petras of Finleyville PA, 2 dogs, 1 mother cat, and grandfather of four baby cats. Step-Brother of the late Steven Zabela (Hays). Son of George and Elizabeth (Simon) Petras of McKeesport, Step-Mother remarried to Mary Elizabeth (Zabela) Petras. He was an Uncle to Casey Zabela of Florida, Brad Zabela of Baldwin, Nick and Michelle Messina, Craig and Ashley D'Angelo. Brother-in-law to Joanne Messina and Jim Gavlak of Finleyville. George owned and managed a painting company in Florida for new construction for 10 years. He moved back to PA and he accepted a position with Conrail, now doing business as Norfolk Southern. He worked his way up to Engineer. George had a great interest in his pets, airplanes, and trains. In his spare time, he enjoyed the casino and won all the time. He always had a way with people to make them laugh. He was a comedian at times up until his illness occurred.
Visitation will be held on Thursday February 13, 2020 from 2-4pm and 6-9pm at the JEFFERSON MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, INC., 301 Curry Hollow Rd., Pleasant Hills, 15236. A funeral service will be held on Friday February 14, 2020 at 12pm noon at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home Chapel.
