George J. Obsince's Obituary
Age 95, of Baldwin (formerly of Duquesne), passed away peacefully on November 24, 2018. Preceded in death by beloved wife of 25 years Helen (Chulko) Obsince, and loving wife of 28 years Marilyn (Finn) Obsince. Faithful devoted father of George J. Obsince, Jr., Jean Obsince, and Christine Suchko. Mr. Obsince was a decorated World War II veteran in the US Army Air Corps. He served as a Radio Operator Mechanic on a C47 cargo plane in the China Burma India Theater. Flying unescorted with no protection over uncharted enemy territory and subject to enemy fighter plane attack, he flew over 600 hours and 204 missions to deliver ammunition and supplies to US Air bases and Allies. For this bravery he received 2 Distinguished Flying Crosses and 2 Air Medals. A proud graduate of the University of Pittsburgh with a BS in Industrial Engineering, Mr. Obsince worked as a Senior Industrial Engineer for the US Steel Corporation for 33 years. He was a kind, compassionate, devoted, loving father, husband and friend. With wisdom, patience and love he never failed to be there for his family and he will be profoundly missed. Visitation will be held Tuesday, November 27, 6-8 PM at the JEFFERSON MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, INC., 301 Curry Hollow Road, Pittsburgh, 15236. A Blessing Service will be held Wednesday, November 28, 2 PM, in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow at Jefferson Memorial Park.
