George E. Kovalcik's Obituary
George E. Kovalcik, age 80, passed away on July 3, 2026.
George was a proud graduate of Thiel College, where he won multiple golf awards that showcased his talent and dedication to the sport. He later became an assistant pro at the Duquesne Country Club, where he not only honed his skills but also shared his love for golf by teaching the game to enthusiastic adults. George embraced everything about the game, finding joy in every swing and fairway.
Deeply valued by his friends and family, George was known for his warm heart and friendly demeanor. He had a unique ability to connect with people, making friends wherever he went. Always considerate and compassionate, he would lend a helping hand to anyone in need, embodying the spirit of kindness in all his interactions.
George is survived by his wife Kathleen Kovalcik; son Mike (Maureen) Kovalcik; grandsons Carter Kovalcik and Cole Kovalcik; sister Ruth (Tom) Wiley; as well as many nieces and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents George and Mary Kovalcik and his sister Jane Bock.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 7, 2026 from 2:00 - 4:00 pm and 6:00 - 8:00 pm at the Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home, 301 Curry Hollow Road, Pittsburgh, 15236. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Wednesday, July 8 at 10:00 am at Triumph of the Holy Cross Parish, St. Thomas A'Becket worship site, 139 Gill Hall Road, Clairton, PA 15025.
