Gary A. Michalec's Obituary
Gary A. Michalec, age 80, of Bethel Park, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 9, 2024. Gary was born on June 26, 1943, the son of the late Adolph and Theresa (Barto) Michalec.
Gary leaves his daughter, Rachel L. Halladay and her partner, Ron Palagyi; his son, Michael A. Michalec; grandson, Nathan M. Martin; and his friend and former spouse, Lydia Martin. He also leaves many friends throughout Bethel Park, including his dear friends Jack and Nancy Juskowich.
In addition to his parents, Gary was preceded in death by his sister, Gayle Hessie.
Gary was a graduate of Bethel High School and went on to join the US Air Force where he proudly and honorably served our country from 1962-1966. Gary received his bachelor’s degree from Robert Morris University and enjoyed a long career with Westinghouse, Savannah River Plant as an engineer.
In Gary’s free time, he could be found cheering on his favorite sports teams including the Steeler’s, the Pirates and the Penguins. He loved all sports but was an avid golfer.
Services and burial have been entrusted to Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home and will be held privately.
Gary was a very giving person who generously donated often to his favorite charities including the Indian School and St. Jude’s Hospital for Children. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in honor of Gary may be made to one of these organizations.
