Gabrielle Majetic's Obituary
Gabrielle "Gabbie" Majetic, age 28, passed away peacefully at her home after a courageous battle with an aggressive form of adrenal cancer.
Born on March 19, 1998, in Pittsburgh, Gabbie was the daughter of Paul and Theresa Majetic. She grew up in the Jefferson Hills community, where she attended Thomas Jefferson High School and graduated in 2016. During her high school years, she proudly represented the Jaguars as a cheerleader and also competed with Fire & Ice All-Star Cheerleading, where she formed lasting friendships and demonstrated the dedication and determination that would define every aspect of her life.
From an early age, Gabbie developed a fascination with French language and culture. As a member of the French Club in high school, she nurtured a lifelong dream of one day traveling to France and experiencing firsthand the country she had admired for so many years.
Academically gifted, Gabbie pursued her education at Duquesne University, where she earned a bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering before continuing to receive a master's degree in Computational Probability and Statistics. Even at the beginning of her professional career during an internship, she authored and published a research paper.
While Gabbie possessed an extraordinary mind, those who loved her knew that her greatest qualities could never be measured by degrees. She was creative, thoughtful, fiercely loyal, and wonderfully unique.
Crocheting was one of Gabbie's favorite hobbies. There was little she couldn't make with yarn and a crochet hook, but perhaps her most meaningful project was a temperature blanket she began on the day Aaron proposed to her. Every day for the next 365 days, she added another row, capturing the changing temperatures and preserving an entire year of memories in stitches. She was also an avid reader who loved romance, fantasy, and historical fiction novels.
Some of Gabbie's happiest childhood memories were made alongside her father, Paul, through the YMCA Indian Princess Program. Together they shared countless father-daughter adventures, creating memories that would remain close to them both.
A lifelong Disney enthusiast, Gabbie's sister, Danielle, lovingly joked that Gabbie's personality was the perfect blend of Belle from Beauty and the Beast and Jim Carrey's Grinch. A compliment that captured both her gentle heart and her witty, quirky sense of humor.
Above all else, Gabbie's favorite person was Aaron. Their love was built on friendship, laughter, and shared passions. Together they spent countless hours watching anime, attending cosplay conventions, and bringing their favorite character couples to life through costumes. Gabbie also taught herself how to cook, finding joy in preparing meals for Aaron, who loved everything she made. Whether they were enjoying a quiet evening at home or planning their next convention, they found happiness simply being together.
Gabbie leaves behind her husband, Aaron Waner; her parents, Paul and Theresa Majetic; siblings, Alexandra (Jacob) Shaw, Sara Majetic, Danielle (Cody Thomas) Majetic, Nicholas Majetic, Ian Majetic, Olivia Majetic and Rebecca Majetic; nieces and nephews, Liam, Emma and Noah Shaw and Scarlet and Hunter Richards; parents-in-law, Daniel and Tamara Waner; siblings-in-law, Amanda (Jason)Richards and Ashley Waner; her beloved childhood cat, Booney; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Steve and Wanda Majetic and George and Maria Stephenson.
