Frances M. Gardner's Obituary
Frances M. Gardner, age 80, of Baldwin, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, in the comfort of her own home while surrounded by the love of her family. Frances was born in Pittsburgh on October 10, 1944, the daughter of the late Harold and Betty Schott.
Frances grew up on the South Side, the oldest of five siblings, cherishing the bonds of family and nurturing these relationships throughout her life. Many treasured years were spent with her beloved husband, the late William H. Gardner, who affectionately called her "Frank."
She was the loving mother of William (Leslie) Gardner, Gail Niespodzianski, and the late David Gardner and the loving grandmother of the late Leonard Bilski, Colin Leber, and Nicholas (Tabitha) Niespodzianski. Frances also leaves her great grandchildren, Gemma Bilski, and Sydney and Carson Leber; her siblings, Donna (The late Ronald) Lidey, James (Maggie) Schott, and Michelle (Mark) Brickett, and many nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her brother, Edward (Daryl) Schott.
Frances was a dedicated member of the United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW) Union for over 40 years, where she earned the respect and admiration of her colleagues. Known for her good sense of humor, Frances had a unique ability to bring joy to those around her. She was a compassionate and selfless individual who always lent a listening ear to family, friends, or anyone in need.
An avid reader and competitor at heart, Frances found joy in playing Wordle and enjoyed numerous card games with her close-knit circle of friends.
In celebrating Frances' life, we remember her kindness, compassion, and unwavering selflessness. She will be deeply missed by all those who loved her.
Friends and relatives are invited to join the family for visitation on Friday, August 1, 2025, from 2:00 - 8:00 pm at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home, 301 Curry Hollow Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15236. A service in honor of Frances will be held in the chapel at the funeral home at 10:00 am on Saturday, August 2, 2025. Burial will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
