Floyd Johnson, Jr.'s Obituary
Floyd Johnson, Jr., 74, of South Park, entered into Eternal Rest on Sunday, February 5, 2023. He was born on December 7, 1948, in Pittsburgh, the son of Verna (Nusser) Johnson and the late Floyd Johnson, Sr.
Floyd grew up in Mount Washington where he attended local schools. He was a graduate of South Hills High School. Following his graduation, he joined the US Marine Corps where he proudly served our country as a Major working on the USS Intrepid. Floyd joined the Army Reserves where he served as a Captain, after his time in the Marines. Floyd was a veteran of Desert Storm. After retiring from the service, Floyd worked as the operations manager with the United States Postal Service.
Floyd was a proud member of the American Legion Post 145 and enjoyed learning about military history. He was an avid hunter and a baseball coach in his free time. His greatest joy was the time spent with his family.
Floyd is survived by his wife, Donna Marie Johnson; his mother, Verna Johnson; and his three children, Stephen M. Johnson and his wife, Cindy, Heather Elizabeth Johnson and her husband, Ray, and Paul John Opie and his wife, Holly. Floyd also leaves his beloved grandchildren, Cheyenne, Wyatt, Camden, Amaya, Raymond, Makai, Presleigh, Jacob, and Benjamin; a brother, James Johnson and his wife, Mary Ann, and several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to join the family for visitation from 2-4 and 6- 8 pm on Friday, February 10, 2023 at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home, 301 Curry Hollow Rd., Pittsburgh, PA 15236. A service will be held at the funeral home at 10:00 am on Saturday, February 11, 2023. Burial will be held on Monday at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.
