Evelyn R. Ventura's Obituary
Evelyn R. Ventura, 97, of Pittsburgh, PA. passed away peacefully on July 6, 2025.
Evelyn was an avid gardener, her garden a cherished place for her throughout the years. She had a love for cats, with her cherished cat, Fluffy always by her side. Evelyn's love for card games was well known, she was a master of 500 bid, and would always be willing to play a game.
She was a dedicated Pittsburgh Pirates fan, knowing batting averages off the top of her head. She also loved watching whatever sporting event she could, and loved to take part in going Bowling and Golfing herself. Evelyn expressed her creativity through sewing clothing for her family and her love through cooking and baking, leaving a legacy of cherished family heirlooms and treasured recipes. Evelyn's greatest joy however, was found in the time she spent with her beloved family.
Evelyn is survived by her loving children Debra Ann Ventura, Susan Rita Ventura, Valerie Jean Ventura, Mark Louis (Maureen) Ventura; grandchildren Alissa (Teddy) Chambers, Marc (Sherrie) Pilkington, John (Amanda) Yankovich, Gina (Michael) Berisford, Virginia (Jacob) Richie, Carolyn (Chad) Weissgerber, Kevin (Kathleen) Ventura and Kaitlyn Ventura; 16 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by her beloved husband Lotus E. Ventura, infant son Frank Ventura, grandson Ryan Pilkington, parents Peter and Sophie Rockar and brother William R. Rockar.
Friends and family will be received from 6-8pm on Thursday, July 10, 2025 at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home, Inc., 301 Curry Hollow Road, Pleasant Hills, PA, 15236.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10am on Friday, July 11, 2025 at Nativity Catholic Church - Our Lady of Hope Parish, 5811 Curry Rd, Pittsburgh, PA 15236.
Burial will be handled by Jefferson Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Ryan's Rides, and can be mailed to St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, 200 Virginia St. Beckley, WV 25801.
This is an outreach assisting people who have a job but no transportation, in honor of Ryan Pilkington. Checks can be made out to St. Stephen's Church, Memo designating "Ryan's Rides".
