Evelyn M. Ross (Scharfetter)'s Obituary
Ross
Evelyn M.
Age 88, of Peters Township, passed away on May 12, 2016 after a courageous 8 year battle with ovarian cancer. Raised as a hard working farm girl from Bethel Park by the late George and Emma Scharfetter, Eve began her professional career in the personnel department of the Bell Telephone Co. of PA where 67 years ago she met her husband and love of her life, John of McKeesport. Born the 6th of 8 children, predeceased by Howard, Alfred, Alice, Dorothy and Betty, survived by her sister Lois Eddins of Cary, NC and brother George of Orlando, FL.
Survived by her beloved husband John F., sons John (Tori) of North Strabane and Keith (Patty) of Peters, grandsons Pat (Allie), Alex (Becky), Peter (Julie) and Jonathan, and greatgrandchildren Brianna, Kevin, Samuel and Sidonie. After raising her boys, Eve surprised us all with her ability to start a new chapter with Federated Investors Inc., assisting individual investors with their mutual fund investments. Mom was special, always had something good to say, an easy relaxing smile, ready to help others and never complaining. A wonderful baker…you wouldn’t find a box cake in her pantry. She made the best pecan pie this side of North Carolina. Her calendar was filled with dates of everyone’s birthday and anniversary, and a box of cards on file months in advance, ready to be posted to arrive exactly on your date. She loved all holidays, but her favorite week was the annual family vacation at Ocean Isle Beach, NC. A good friend, a great Mom, Grandma, Great Grandma and a special wife, she will be missed by all.
Friends and family received 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM on Sunday May 15, 2016 and service will be held at 10 AM on Monday May 16, 2016 at the Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home, 301 Curry Hollow Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15236; 412-655-4501. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Ovarian Cancer Research Fund. The family wishes to thank the wonderful caregivers from Emerald Home Health and Interim Healthcare for the final weeks of support.
