Eugene Fredrick Wagner's Obituary
Eugene "Gene" Wagner
September 30, 1963 - April 26, 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Eugene "Gene" Wagner, fondly known as "Geno," age 61, of Pleasant Hills, on April 26, 2025, after a courageous battle with an aggressive form of leukemia. Surrounded by his devoted family, Gene passed peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love and dedication.
Born September 30, 1963, in Pittsburgh, Gene was the son of the late Gene and Shirley (Burke) Wagner. He was the beloved husband of Melanie (Hils) Wagner, cherished father of Alexis, Autumn, and Lennon, and dear brother of Wendy (Doran) Werling. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends, all of whom will miss him dearly.
Gene, or "Geno" as many lovingly knew him, was a steady, strong, and gentle presence we could always count on. A simple, easygoing man, he lived his life with unwavering dedication to his loved ones. Gene was a hardworking provider in the commercial roofing industry, a craft he took great pride in throughout his career. In addition to roofing, Gene also possessed a remarkable talent for cabinetry, a skill lovingly passed down to him by his father. He found joy in working with his hands, creating pieces that reflected his care and craftsmanship.
Outside of work, Gene enjoyed many years playing softball, where he built lasting friendships and created memories that his family and teammates will always cherish. Whether on the field, at work, or at home, Gene's passion, commitment, and good humor left an impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
His work ethic was matched only by his devotion to his family. His greatest joy came from being with his loved ones, and he always placed his family above all else. His legacy of love, integrity, and strength will continue to inspire all who knew him.
Gene will be dearly remembered for his generosity, dedication, and the countless lives he touched with his kindness. But most importantly, his stuffed cabbage recipe.
Friends and family will be received for a memorial visitation on Friday May 2 from 2 - 4 pm and 6-8 pm at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Homes Inc. 301 Curry Hollow Rd Pittsburgh Pa 15236. A service will be held for family and friends on Saturday May 3rd at 10:00 am in the funeral home chapel.
Flowers are welcome, and for those wishing to support the family further, donations can be made to the family's GoFundMe page: https://gofund.me/29c7ce72
