Eugene "Gene" Coleman Karnes' Obituary
Eugene "Gene" Coleman Karnes, 84, of Stuart, FL, formerly of Elizabeth Twp., PA, passed away on Sunday, May 2, 2021 at Cleveland Clinic Martin North. Gene was born on February 8, 1937 to the late Clifford E. Karnes Sr. and Ada Bernice (Coleman) Karnes. Gene worked at US Steel, Homestead Works in the carpenter shop, retiring in 1984. He relocated to Florida and was a Superintendent at Wharton-Smith, Inc., retiring in 2010. Gene loved being on the water with his boat, whether it be on the Monongahela River or in the ocean. He also enjoyed traveling. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Hartley Karnes; daughter, Cheryl (Don) Collage of Short Gap, WV; Scott Karnes of Tampa FL; and Todd Karnes of DeLand, FL; grandchildren, Kellianne Frketic, Karalee and Kaelin Collage, Robert Karnes, Brittney, Amber and Misty Karnes; great-grandchildren, Quinten, Ava, Alexandra, Gabriella and Landon; brother, Clifford E. Karnes, Jr. (Sharon); step-children, Greg Poland, Brian (Dawn) Poland; daughter-in-law, Mary Kay Poland and grandchildren, Megan, Derek and Kylie Poland. He was preceded in death by his son, Mark Dennis Karnes; sister, Mildred R. Karnes Larson; and step-son, Joe Poland III.
Family and friends are welcomed on Saturday, July 10, 2021 at 1 pm, for a Celebration of Life Service at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home, Inc., 301 Curry Hollow Road, Pleasant Hills.
Interment to follow at Jefferson Memorial Park.
