Esther J. Kochendorfer's Obituary
Esther J. Kochendorfer, a cherished sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully on January 6, 2024, at the age of 87. Born on June 16, 1936, in Pittsburgh, PA, to the late George and Julia Kochendorfer, Esther lived a life marked by devotion to her family, her faith, and her community.
Esther was the beloved sister of Arthur, Earl, and Richard Kochendorfer, and Eleanor Sinz. She was preceded in death by her siblings Elvera Benko, Dorothy Ichenko, and Ernest Kochendorfer. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A lifelong member of the Homestead United Presbyterian Church, Esther's commitment to her faith was evident in her active participation. She taught Sunday school, where she shared her love for the Bible with countless children, sang in the choir with a voice that could both soothe and uplift, and served her church community with a dedication that never wavered.
Esther's work ethic was unparalleled, and she approached every task with a sense of purpose and excellence. Her interests were as varied as they were numerous. An avid reader, she found joy and solace in the pages of books, which were her constant companions. Esther's love for television, particularly game shows, was well-known among her family and friends, who often joined her in watching and playing along. She would often be found with a cup of coffee any time of the day.
Music was a cornerstone of Esther's life. Her love for music was infectious, and she could often be found humming a tune or sharing a song with those around her.
Esther's journey through life was guided by her deep love for her one true love, Al Evans. In her passing, she went to be with him, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and faith that will continue to resonate with all who knew her.
