I am very sorry for your loss. He was a fantastic teacher. He was an incredible orator and authentic all the way around. His classes were fascinating and seemed to end too quickly. God bless.

I'm so grateful Mr. Oskey was my high school history teacher -- what a great man to know! I cherish the memories.
I'm 51 years old and found myself thinking very fondly, as I have done over the years, of my great history teacher at Mt. Lebanon High School, Mr. Oskey. I was heartbroken to see the world is a little less bright with him no longer in it. He was an extremely bright, thoughtful, and kind individual, but I truly think he must have been a stand-up comedian in a past life -- I will NEVER forget his stories! And one positive thing that has come out of finding this obituary: I had no idea he had seven children, had served in our military (I married Army myself!), and was devout. I wish I had known him as an adult because he was an amazing individual to know in my youth. Cheers to you, Mr. Oskey, because I KNOW you are holding court with many a wonderful story in the Afterlife! I'm so glad I knew you and thank you for being such a good teacher and kind soul.
Mr. Oskey inspired me to love history and to work hard. He told me one day, \"Do not confuse cynicism with wisdom; they are not the same thing.\" I think of that so often and as a turning point in my heart. When greeted with, \"How are you,\" he would answer, \"TREMENDOUS!\" I was a history major largely because of him. His voracious love of learning inspired me. I wanted to read books like he did. He is unquestionably one of the best teachers I had K-12. Without a doubt. I pray you all comfort and much peace.

Ernie led me to Christ in the fall of 1965. I was a junior at Upper St Clair. He was a tremendous positive influence in my life. Although we rarely saw each other, when we did he reminded me that we were together every day before the throne of God.
Ernie led me to the Lord Jesus Christ when I was a junior at Upper St. Clair High School. It was his first year teaching U.S. History. He had an incredible spiritual impact on my life and on dozens of other teens. A superb and creative Bible teacher, he nurtured me spiritually, grounded me in the Word, and helped prepare me for a lifelong ministry. In my preaching, I still frequently tell the story of how he brought me to the Lord. Dear Linda, my heartfelt thanks to you for all you did and for all the sacrifices you made to help bring me along in my walk with Jesus. My heartfelt prayers are with you and the whole family for comfort and joy at this time. He is with the Lord he so deeply loved! God bless you all! Bill Wilson
He was one of the most wonderfully strong Christians I’ve ever known and was a huge influence in my early days as a new believer. Until we meet again in the mansions of the Lord…
I found Mr Oskey to not only be an amazing teacher but to be among the most interesting people I have ever met. He was so multi-dimensional and holistic: excelling in the martial arts, Christian faith, and of course absolute brilliance in intellect. He read a book a night and had a photographic memory. He also had a passion for life and a passion for the Lord. He was a mentor and the most authentic and sincere people I've ever met. May his spirit and impact continue in the countless students he gave so much to enrich.
Our deepest condolences- Praying for peace and comfort- Knowing he is in the presence of Jesus.
Great church youth leader, Ernie (and Linda) sacrificed so much of their time for us as teens!
My favorite preaching message was when he dressed as an Old Testament priest explaining the meaning of each part of the clothing.
A privilege to have his teaching, which whet our appetite to study Scripture.
My prayers are with all you Oskeys. You are so blessed to have him as spouse, dad, and grandpap. - Love in Christ, Wendy
