I have such fond memories when she opened up her home to me for a month in September 2008 when I was visiting Pittsburgh for a rotation in medical school. I have a vivid memory of making pasta with her on the kitchen table, which she insisted we do since I had never made pasta from scratch (clearly an important rite of passage for an Italian American!) I ended up matching with Pittsburgh’s residency program and have since enjoyed a fulfilling career in child psychiatry. I will always be grateful for her warmth and support those years ago.
