She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Albert Hilko, her brother Andrew Serecsin, and her parents.
Elvira's legacy is carried on by her loving daughters, Tamara Hilko and Denise (Jeffrey) Meyer. She was a cherished grandmother to Heather (Ken) Reed and Melissa Dean, and a proud great-grandmother to Jeffrey, Kirstie, Caitlin, Michael, Caleb, Campbell, and Channing. Her joy was further multiplied with the arrival of her great-great-grandchildren, Charlie, Cassie, and Nyla. Each generation of her family benefited from her wisdom, warmth, and the stories of her rich life experiences.
Throughout her life, Elvira was recognized for her many different accomplishments, receiving the American Legion Award through the Pittsburgh Public Schools. She also received the title of Mrs. McKeesport in the early 50's. Elvira's journey included a period as a key punch operator, where she utilized her meticulous nature and attention to detail.
Elvira's interests and talents were as diverse as they were profound. She was bilingual, a skill that served her well. Her deep religious faith was central to her life, and she was a devout member of her Lutheran church, where she found great solace and community. Elvira was overjoyed when her husband achieved his dream of becoming a high school teacher and later a principal at Baldwin High School. Together, they shared a love for boating and water skiing, often spending their summers gliding across the water at the Youghiogheny Dam.
Travel was another of Elvira's passions, and she and Albert explored many corners of the world, creating a tapestry of memories that she would fondly recount to her family. Her artistic abilities shone brightly in her talent for interior design, where she brought beauty and harmony into her home. She also had a love for cats.
