Elmer J. Zeiler, Jr., age 95, of Castle Shannon, passed away on Saturday, January 3, 2026.
Elmer proudly served in the United States Air Force. His dedication to his service was a source of pride, and he cherished the camaraderie and experiences he gained during his time in the military.
Elmer had an infectious love for life. He enjoyed singing and dancing, often bringing joy to family gatherings with his vibrant spirit. A passionate golfer, he could frequently be found on the golf course, enjoying the game and the company of friends. Family was incredibly important to him, and he nurtured strong, loving relationships with each one of his children and their families. He will forever be remembered for his warmth, humor, and his signature 'Buy bonds' farewell.
Elmer is survived by children John (Debbie) Zeiler, Gary (Tracy) Zeiler, William (Gwen) Zeiler, David (Linda) Zeiler, Debra (the late Ray) Rich, James Zeiler, Sharon (Robbie) Wirth, and Dorene (Eric) Bonilla; grandfather to 19 grandchildren; great grandfather to 18 great grandchildren with more on the way.
He is preceded in death by his wife Ethel, his parents Elmer and Anna, and his siblings Lillian, Ralph, Donald, and Edward.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 7, 2026 from 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm at the Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home, 301 Curry Hollow Road, Pittsburgh, 15236. A funeral service will take place on Thursday, January 8 at 1:00 pm in the funeral home's chapel.
