Elmer Norbert McCall, Jr.'s Obituary
Elmer N. McCall, Jr., of Upper St. Clair, our beloved family patriarch, passed away peacefully on July 7, 2023. Born on January 28, 1923, to Elmer Sr. and Mary McCall, Elmer lived a full and vibrant life that spanned an impressive 100 years.
Elmer's life was marked by an unwavering love for his family. Elmer was predeceased by his beloved wife of 60 years, Doris McCall, and his oldest son, Donald McCall. He is survived by his children, Nancy (Norman) Rabinovitz, James (Sally) McCall, Robert (Kathy) McCall, MaryAnne Vitale and Scott McCall. Elmer also leaves behind his daughter-in-law, Debi McCall, 16 grandchildren, and 23 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brother, Lloyd and sister Mary Louise.
He was the epitome of the greatest generation and served his country with distinction as a fighter pilot in the Army Air Corps during World War II. After the war, he married the love of his life, started raising a family and founded Tumacs Corporation in 1958. Elmer's work ethic was unparalleled and he remained active in the company well into his 90s.
Elmer was a man who loved life and lived it to the fullest. He was an avid tennis player, continuing to play well into his 90s. His love for the outdoors was evident in his fondness for "the farm", vacations at the Jersey Shore and sailing on Lake Arthur. However, his greatest joy was his family. Elmer recently celebrated his 100th birthday surrounded by 60 family members, a testament to the love and respect they held for him. His memory will be cherished by all who knew him and his influence will continue to inspire future generations.
Family and friends will be received on Tuesday, July 11, 2023 from 10 am - 12 noon at the Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home, 301 Curry Hollow Road, Pittsburgh, 15236. A Funeral Service will be held immediately following visitation at noon in the funeral home's chapel.
